Community Gardens Phase 2 Consultation
Eckington Parish Council
COMMUNITY FIELDS
CONSULTATION APRIL 2024
PHASE 2
Eckington Parish Council is committed to Phase 2 at your community fields.
With support from residents, we are hoping to secure grant funding from both
Wychavon District Council’s Community Legacy Grant Fund
and also
Natural Network’s grant funding opportunity.
Part of the criteria for the grant application relies on consultation with village residents. Your feedback is important to us..
Following on from the consultation with residents back in May 2023 (which was exceptionally well responded to by yourselves – thank you), Eckington Parish Council is now actively working on the next stage based on the feedback you gave us. A document outlining the strategy for phase 2 has been produced which outlines the options.
We have carefully considered the feedback received and are looking to take forward the most popular suggestions. These are:- Memorial Garden / Garden of Remembrance – this will lead off the cemetery and include pathways, planting, seating and a central ‘focal point’. This will be a space for reflection and remembering lost loved ones – it will not be a ‘burial’ space although a small area will be set aside for the scattering of ashes. We are looking for your views on this as to the preferred design from the options shown
- Community Garden / Raised Beds / Community Orchard – a space for the whole community to benefit from growing their chosen produce without the commitment of an allotment.
- Car Parking – a small parking area to be made available (from the Spitfire side of Community Fields). An area will be set aside for disabled parking, motorbikes and a covered area for bicycles.
- Activity / Play Area – to be created within the Community Fields – rustic in design
The Parish Council has had ‘Expression of Interest’ applications approved for grant funding from both Wychavon District Council’s Community Legacy Grant fund and also WCC’s Natural Networks for above projects and is now preparing the full applications to be submitted – to note these are time limited.
In order to maximise the grants, the parish council needs to evidence support from Eckington residents. Each member of your household is encouraged to complete and return the consultation feedback form attached.
We welcome feedback from Eckington residents of all ages, and also collectively from village community groups, i.e. school, the church and village organisations.
Large scale plans will be available to view at the Annual Parish Meeting on 14th May (at Rec Centre) and also Eckington Open Gardens event (located at Community Fields) on 19th May and also available from the Clerk:
